Recently we have been getting a lot of e-mails from people asking if they can travel with us to Africa to help with our drilling projects and to be honest, it's a bit of a tricky situation. The construction of a well is done by experienced drilling teams. As I'm sure you can imagine, it is a dirty job that involves physical labor and heavy machinery. The crews are also sleeping at the location and often rely on local hospitality for their meals.
That said if a group of 8-12 people are interested in traveling to Africa to visit a well that they sponsor, we may be able to make that happen.
You would need to raise $5000-$6000 between the group for the well, as well as covering all of your travel expenses. For a group of 10 people, each person would need to pay the price of their flight to Africa, plus all travel related costs and a $500 donation toward a well. We would try to arrange things so that the well is at some stage of construction during the trip so you can see some of the process. You would also get to meet some of the villagers and interact with the beneficiaries of your contribution. We would organize everything and give you all the relevant information about what inoculations you would need etc.
If you are interested please post on here, but please do not leave your e-mail address or phone number on this board just in case of spam.
