Here are some photos from the Pece Pawel Primary School in Gulu, Uganda where Drop in the Bucket are currently installing eco-sanitation toilets. We have already installed a well and just modified it with our new soak pit. Standing water from wells is always a problem, as it can encourage mosquito breeding which can lead to diseases such as malaria, so we always add soak pits to our wells. At this school we decided to try using a covered soak pit with a removable lid. The design seems to be working perfectly, but we will be checking back in to make sure it lives up to its initial promise.

The well has been in for almost a month now, and as you can see in these photos we have the structure for the toilet building complete and the chambers for the septics are also ready. The next step will be adding the roundabout pump and the hand washing station.
