Masafu Uganda

Masafu, Uganda.

In 2007 Drop in the Bucket visited the Masafu Primary School in Uganda. They had a well installed that had been set up using an old gas pump, the pump was starting to fail and also consumed water at a greater rate than the wells recharge rate.
The problem was, school used more water than a hand pump could handle but consumed less than the gas pump, which was over taxing the well’s water supply.
Drop in the Bucket in collaboration with Bill McKay and Hunter Beattie installed a roundabout pump that now provides the schools 1200 children with a continuous supply of safe, clean, disease free water. This project was paid for directly by donations received in our October Fundraiser from the designers that donated through Designers4Africa.
Drop in the Bucket and the 1200 children that attend the Masafu Primary School would like to extend their deepest gratitude to April and Designers4Africa for making all of this happen.
